The 1978 World Series was the 75th edition of the finals of Major League Baseball . The American League champions , the New York Yankees , and the National League champions , the Los Angeles Dodgers , faced each other. The Best-Of-Seven series started on October 10 and ended on October 17, 1978. Winner after six games were again the New York Yankees 4-2, who had already won the year before with the same result against the Dodgers. It was the overall 22nd and until 1996 the last championship for the Yankees.

As MVP of the series of New York was shortstop Bucky Dent excellent.
