The 1988 World Series was the 85th edition of the finals of Major League Baseball between the two California teams Oakland Athletics , the champions of the American League , and the Los Angeles Dodgers , the champions of the National League . The series started on October 15 and ended on October 20, 1988. The winner of the Best-Of-Seven series was the LA Dodgers with a 4-1 success.
