The 1982 World Series was the 79th edition of the Major League Baseball finals . The champions of the American League , the Milwaukee Brewers , and the champions of the National League , the St. Louis Cardinals , faced each other. The best-of-seven series started on October 12 and ended on October 20, 1982. Winner after seven games were the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3, who could win their ninth World Series .

As MVP of the series St. Louis' was catcher Darrell Porter excellent.
