The 1973 World Series was the 70th edition of the finals of Major League Baseball . The champions of the American League , the Oakland Athletics , and the champion of the National League , the New York Mets , faced each other. The Best-Of-Seven series started on October 13th and ended on October 21, 1973. The Oakland Athletics won by a 4-3 victory, thus defending their title from the previous year and winning their second championship in a row.

As MVP of the series Oaklands was right fielder Reggie Jackson excellent.
