Paul Aaron Lindblad (born August 9, 1941 in Chanute , Kansas , † January 1, 2006 in Arlington , Texas ) was an American baseball player in Major League Baseball .

Lindblad was a solid pitcher in the American League who was mostly used as a substitute thrower and won the World Series twice with his teams . In 1962 he was signed by the Kansas City Athletics and made his major league debut in 1965.

Outstanding performances were a series of 385 games without a fault in the defense game from 1966 to 1974 and the win in Game 3 of the 1973 World Series against the New York Mets . In that game, he was also the last pitcher to ever throw in the Major League against Baseball Hall of Fame member Willie Mays .

On the last day of the 1975 regular season, he threw a no-hitter against the California Angels along with Vida Blue , Glenn Abbott and Rollie Fingers .

After his active career he worked as a pitching coach in the minor leagues .

On January 1, 2006, Paul Lindblad died of Alzheimer's disease .
