The 1907 World Series was the fourth edition of the World Series , the finals of Major League Baseball (MLB) at the end of the 1907 MLB season . They were played from October 8 to 12, 1907, between the American League winners , the Detroit Tigers , and the National League winners , the Chicago Cubs . The Cubs, who lost the World Series 1906 2-4 games last year , sweeped the Tigers 4-0 and won the title for the first time on their second participation. However, the series consisted of five games, as Game 1 ended in a draw after 12 innings .

Of the participants in the 1907 World Series, six players have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame to date . On the side of the winning Cubs, these are Mordecai Brown , Frank Chance , Johnny Evers and Joe Tinker . With the Tigers Sam Crawford and Ty Cobb . The umpire Hank O'Day is also a member of the Hall of Fame.
