Michael Joseph "Mike" Piazza (born September 4, 1968 in Norristown , Pennsylvania ) is a retired American baseball player in Major League Baseball , who worked as a catcher a. a. played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets . He holds the record for most home runs beaten by a catcher (427). In 2016 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame for the Mets , with whom he still enjoys cult status to this day .

Stations as a player

On May 5, 2004, Piazza hit his 352nd home run against the San Francisco Giants (first inning against pitcher Jerome Williams). He replaced Carlton Fisk as the catcher with the most home runs defeated.
