Jorge Verdugo Ponce

Jorge Verdugo Ponce (* 1956 in Pasto ; † 2016 ) was a Colombian linguist and literary scholar .

Verdugo Ponce studied Philology and Languages ​​at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and obtained a Masters in Literature from the University of Nariño in 1987 . He wrote literary criticism of Narrativa literature: La configuración del discurso de la crítica de la literatura en Nariño en el siglo XX (2001) and Sobre el Canon y la Canonización de la Narrativa en Nariño en el Siglo XX (2004). His literary works include the two novels Memoria de las voces perdidas (1987) and Las Cosas Naturales (2008), the fairy tale book Contrasueños (1997) as well as literary criticism and discourse analysis articles in magazines. He was a lecturer at the University of Nariño and at the Universidad Mariana in his native Pasto. At the University of Nariño, he directed the master’s program in ethnic literature and was director of the central library of the same university.
