Jorge Alberto del Río Salas (born October 30, 1918 in Buenos Aires , † unknown) was an Argentine sailor .

successes

Jorge del Río Salas took part in four Olympic Games in the dragon boat class . In 1948 he took seventh place in his Olympic debut at the regatta taking place in Torquay , while alongside Jorge Salas Chavez he was a crew member of the Argentine boat Pampero, led by del Río Salas' brother-in-law Roberto Sieburger . Four years later he just missed a medal win in Helsinki with Pampero and Skipper Sieburger in fourth. At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 he was alongside Héctor Calegaris crew member of Tango with skipper Jorge Salas Chávez. With the Tango they finished second with 5715 points, only eleven points ahead of the Italian boat Venilia , and thus won the silver medal. The Greeks in the Nirefs became Olympic champions . With Calegaris and Salas Chavez, del Río Salas had won the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Chicago a year earlier . He finished the Olympic Regatta in Tokyo in 1964 with the Tango in tenth place. Skipper was again Salas Chavez, the second crew member Rodolfo Rivademar .

Jorge del Río Salas married the daughter of Enrique Sieburger senior , whose family has great Olympic sailing experience, including Sieburger senior sons Carlos and Enrique junior - Del Río Salas' brother-in-law.
