Jorodd Asphjell (born July 17, 1960 in Orkdal ) is a Norwegian politician of the Social Democratic Workers' Party (Ap). Since 2005 he has been a member of parliament in Storting .

Life

From 1976 to 1977 Asphjell attended a vocational school in Meldal , where he was trained as a mechanic, before he was at a secondary school until 1980, where he completed the graphics line. From 1977 to 1994 he worked as a printer, then he was self-employed until 1997. Asphjell sat in Orkdal's local parliament from 1983 to 1987 , and was the parish's deputy mayor between 1999 and 2003. Between 1987 and 1999 he served as a member of parliament in Fylkesting in what was then the province of Sør-Trøndelag . From 1997 to 2005 he was the secretary of the Arbeiderpartiet in Sør-Trøndelag.

Asphjell first moved into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting in the 2005 general election . There he represents the constituency of Sør-Trøndelag and initially became a member of the Health and Welfare Committee, where he remained after the 2009 election . Towards the end of the legislative period, he was part of the local and administrative committee from March to September 2013. Following the 2013 election in Storting , he moved to the Justice Committee, and after the 2017 election he returned to the Local and Administrative Committee. Asphjell changed again in January 2018 during the current legislative period and became a member of the Education and Research Committee.

Asphjell also works as a sports official. From 2011 to 2015 he was the vice-president of the Norwegian Sports Federation, before that, among other things, he was already Vice-Chairman of the Ski Federation in Sør-Trøndelag.
