José Gervasio Gómez (born October 23, 1949 ) is a former Uruguayan football player and coach.

Offensive player Gómez belonged to the squad of Club Atlético Cerro in the Uruguayan Primera División in 1974 . From there he moved to Spain, where he joined Deportivo Alavés . For this club he completed eleven games (no goal) in the Segunda División Spain in the season 1974/75 . 1976 Gómez joined Defensor from his previous club Cerro . There he was part of the legendary championship team that year, under the direction of coach Ricardo de León , for the first time since the introduction of the professional league in Uruguay, the supremacy of Nacional and Peñarol , who had divided the championship titles between themselves, was broken. Gómez came in that championship season on the position of a midfielder on 1392 minutes of playing time. In the same year he also actively contributed to winning the Liguilla Pre Libertadores . In the final against Peñarol on December 27, 1976, he scored one of the four goals Defensors to a 4-1 victory for the team now overseen by the Chilean Andrés Prieto Urrejola . Gómez stayed with the Violets in the following year, played in the Copa Libertadores and was still a regular.

Gómez was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed five international matches between March 28, 1975 and May 8, 1975. He did not score an international goal. Gómez took part in the 1974 World Cup with Uruguay . There it was not used in the course of the competition.
