José de Azeredo Perdigão

José Henrique de Azeredo Perdigão (born September 19, 1896 in Viseu , † September 10, 1993 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese lawyer.

Life

He studied law at the Lisbon Law School and law at the University of Coimbra . He has received honorary doctorates from numerous universities around the world , including Rio de Janeiro , São Paulo , the London Royal College of Art , South-eastern University (USA) and Sophia University (Japan). From 1953 until his death he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian . In 1985 he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Tower and the Sword . One year after his death, in the immediate vicinity of the park, the Gulbenkian Foundation was named after the Largo Azeredo Perdigão and the art museum Centro de Arte Moderna José de Azeredo Perdigão .
