José María Bustillo

José María Bustillo († 1855 in Comayagua ) was from September 10 to October 1, 1835 Supremo Director of the Province of Honduras and from August 20 to 27, 1839 Director Supremo of Honduras .

José María Bustillo married Petrona Vasquez Alcantara.

Joaquín Rivera Bragas was Jefe Supremo from January 7, 1833 to December 31, 1836 , Francisco Ferrera was his deputy . Since Ferrera had friends of Rivera from El Salvador near San Bernardo, Namasigüe, arrested in January 1834, Rivera no longer had confidence in Ferrera, which is why he let the deputy José María Bustillo rule as his deputy executive in 1835. This created a deep enmity between Rivera and Ferrera.

On October 26, 1838, under the provincial government of José María Martinez Salinas , Honduras declared itself a separate state. Ferrera commanded the troops of Honduras in the conflict with the federal government under José Francisco Morazán Quezada , which led to the separation of Honduras. On April 5, 1839, his troops and those of Nicaragua were defeated by the forces of Morazán at the Battle of Espíritu Santo in El Salvador. On September 25, 1839, the troops of Honduras were surprised in San Pedro Perulapán and Francisco Ferrera injured, whereupon he fled to Nicaragua . Since he was exposed to pressure from Morazán as a separatist, he had his resignation from the presidency delivered to Parliament by messenger on August 20, 1839.

The seat of government Comayagua was occupied in 1839 by the troops of José de la Trinidad Francisco Cabañas Fiallos .

Under the politico-military pressure of Morazán, Bustillo gave the presidency to his government cabinet under the leadership of Monica Bueso and Francisco de Aguilar and was Minister of War from August 24, 1839 to January 1840.

From March 1, 1852 to October 18, 1855, under the government of General Fiallos, Bustillo was a judge at the Comayagua Court
