José Maria Barreto Lobato Gonçalves (2019)

José Maria Barreto Lobato Gonçalves (* 1972 ) is a politician from East Timor . He is a member of FRETILIN .

José is the son of the freedom fighter Nicolau dos Reis Lobato and his wife Isabel Barreto . Isabel was executed at the Dili shipyard on December 7, 1975 , the day after the Indonesian invasion . In captivity, she was able to give José to her sister Olímpia Barreto at the last minute before Isabel was brought to be executed. José was adopted by Olímpia Barreto and her husband José Gonçalves , also took their family name Gonçalves and was raised in Jakarta , where his origins were kept secret.

Gonçalves was in the 2001 elections, voted # 20 of the FRETILIN list in the Constituent Assembly from which with the dismissal into independence on May 20, 2002, the National Parliament of East Timor was. In the assembly, Gonçalves was a member of the Committee on Systematisation and Harmonization.

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 Gonçalves no longer stood as a candidate. In 2009 he was still a member of the Central Committee of FRETILIN.

From 2008 to 2010 Gonçalves attended the Colorado School of Mines. He is currently Country Manager for ConocoPhillips in East Timor (as of 2020).
