Josef Amadori

Josef Amadori (born October 14, 1921 in Mainz-Mombach ; † March 21, 2007 in Budenheim ) was a German football player .

The master carpenter "Jupp" Amadori was one of the most important players in the south-west upper division 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the first post-war years . From 1946 to January 1955, the defensive player played 215 games for the 05er, in which he scored 35 goals, mostly penalties . Amadori is the player with the fifth most appearances and the seventh most goals in the Mainz upper league years.

In his first years at Mainz 05, the strong duel Amadori played on the right defensive side of the two years older later honorary captain Gerd Higi . From 1952, the strategist formed the backbone of the Mainz defensive as a middle runner. "If Mainz is to be beaten, Amadori must be beaten first," wrote the local newspaper on the first day of the 1954/55 season.

After the end of his senior league career Amadori acted as a player-coach at SV Gonsenheim , the Mainz gymnastics club from 1817 and Germania Gustavsburg .
