After the 19th matchday, January 23, 1955, tied with 9:27 points, the Sportfreunde Saarbrücken and the zero five were bottom of the table. With a 9-0 home win on the next match day, January 30th, against Sportfreunde, the Higi-Elf catches up with fellow players like Eintracht Kreuznach, Eintracht Trier and FV Speyer. In 1957 he resigned from the coaching position for professional reasons.

In the 2nd Bundesliga , the honorary captain jumped in twice as an interim coach: 1974/75 for three games after Uwe Klimaschefski and 1975/76 also for three games for Gerd Menne, who moved to Augsburg . In addition to his work as chairman of the game committee, Higi also worked for his club as head of the junior department and as a talent scout for years.
