Josef Anton Amann

Josef Anton Amann (born January 11, 1823 in Vaduz ; † November 21, 1891 there ) was a Liechtenstein tanner and politician.

Josef Anton Amann was the son of Johann Amann and his wife Anna Maria Katharina (née Laternser). He was a citizen of Vaduz and a tanner. From 1870 to 1873 and from 1879 to 1885 he was mayor of Vaduz. In 1872 he bought back the Alp Gaflei from Swiss ownership together with Felix Real, Anton Ospelt, Alois Rheinberger and Johann Laternser from Vaduz . In 1875 the five founded the "Molken und Luftkuranstalt auf der Alp Gaflei" and made Gaflei a health resort.

In addition to his office as mayor, he acted from 1872 to 1875 and from 1877 to 1878 as a deputy member of the state parliament, and from 1875 to 1877 and from 1878 to 1886 as a member of the state parliament of the Principality of Liechtenstein . From 1881 to 1891 Amann was a judge at the regional court.

In February 1848 he married Christina Ospelt (1820–1904). The marriage resulted in eight children, six sons and two daughters. His son Rainold (1849-1936) was also mayor of Vaduz from 1894 to 1897. His son Franz, in turn, was a member of the state parliament.
