Franz Ignaz Amann (born July 23, 1862 in Vaduz ; † December 24, 1945 there ) was a Liechtenstein politician (VP).

biography

Franz Amann was born in 1862 as one of eight children of Josef Anton Amann and his wife Christina (née Ospelt, 1820–1904) and grew up with five brothers, including the later mayor of Vaduz Rainold Amann (1849–1936), and two sisters . He was a citizen of Vaduz and came from a family of tanners . However, he himself did not continue to run his father's tannery and instead worked as a farmer, carter and innkeeper at the Adler restaurant , which he and his wife had bought in 1917. From 1915 to 1927 he was a member of the Vaduz municipal council. Amann belonged to the People's Party (VP) and was a deputy government councilor for it from 1922 to 1928. In 1928 he was elected to the Liechtenstein Parliament . In 1930 he voluntarily resigned from the same, as he, like the other three members of the state parliament of the People's Party, was of the opinion that the elections in 1928 , since these were early elections, would only have continued the legislative period of 1926 and thus state elections would have to take place in that year and thus saw their term of office as ended.

Amann was married to Elisabeth Burtscher from Sonntag in the Great Walser Valley . The marriage resulted in seven children, two sons and five daughters. His daughter Ida later became a well-known dialect poet. His son Rudolf was also politically active.
