Josef Bücheler

Josef Bücheler (* 1. April 1936 in Wiesbaden ) is a German visual artist of postmodernism . He lives and works in Rottweil am Neckar.

With his objects and drawings he made a contribution to postmodern art. His main work is dedicated to the Arte Povera . His work includes objects made of willow and paper or rope and paper, drawings and early polyester works from the 1970s. From the mid-1980s, Josef Bücheler began working on a new group of works, the Risk Tree . To date he has realized over 60 paper installations in living and felled trees.

Career

  • 1951–1954 apprenticeship as an upholsterer and upholsterer in the grandfather's workshop. Drawing lessons with trade teacher Artur Obertreis
  • 1957–1959 apprenticeship as a glass artist and glass painter. Drawing and writing in the Werkkunstschule Wiesbaden with Johannes Boehland
  • 1959–1962 novitiate in the Benedictine Abbey of St. Matthias, Trier. Screen printing and lithography in evening classes with Edgar Ehses
  • 1974–1999 teaching position for works and technology at the Maximilian Kolbe School, Rottweil
  • 1979 and 1981 work stays as a sculptor and teacher in the Shanti-Dipshikha development project, Bangladesh

Bücheler is a member of the German Association of Artists and the Baden-Württemberg Association of Artists. Until 2008 he initiated and curated the exhibition Marchtaler Fenster, Neue Kunst of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese in the inner courtyard of the former Obermarchtal monastery and is the initiator of the KUNSTdünger Rottweil sculpture garden in Rottweil.
