Josef Berger (actor, 1876)
Josef Berger (born March 9, 1876 in Munich ; † July 12, 1956 there ) was a German actor and director for stage and film.
Life
The trained banker decided to become an actor and started his first engagement in Hof in 1895 . After a stopover in Kempen , he returned to Munich in 1898 and became a member of the ensemble at the Theater am Gärtnerplatz .
After many years of stage work as an actor and director, he found film in 1918, where he also worked in this double function. Several times he also worked as a screenwriter . Apart from films under his own direction, he was particularly involved in productions by Franz Seitz senior .
In the 1930s, Berger received hardly any directorships and only a few roles as an actor. In later years he was seen on stage, especially at the Munich Volkstheater and in guest performances by Konrad Dreher .
