Josef Bernards

Josef (Joseph) Bernards (born March 22, 1831 in Cologne , † July 9, 1890 in Cologne) was a German politician of the German Center Party and a member of the Reichstag .

Life

Bernards attended high school in Cologne and then studied law in Bonn and Heidelberg. In 1852 he joined the judiciary as a trainee lawyer and became an assessor at the Cologne Regional Court in 1857 and then from 1866 in Düsseldorf.

From 1870 to 1882 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Düsseldorf 11 (Gladbach). From 1873 to 1876 he was secretary there.

From 1871 to 1882 Josef Bernards was elected to the Reichstag for the constituency of Dusseldorf District 4 (city and district of Dusseldorf) , where he joined the central parliamentary group. On March 15, 1882, his mandate expired when he was appointed higher regional judge.
