Josef Burgwinkel (born June 9, 1895 in Cologne-Deutz ; † November 10, 1966 ) was a German opera singer ( baritone ) and actor.
Life
Josef Burgwinkel made his debut as a baritone in Wuppertal in 1918 and went to Berlin after stints in Mannheim and Munich. From 1927 to 1944, Burgwinkel was permanently engaged as a hero tenor and play tenor at the Städtische Oper Berlin (today Deutsche Oper). He also appeared at the Salzburg Festival , for example in 1928 as Ferrando in Così fan tutte . After the end of the Second World War he had a number of engagements in East Berlin and also went into the film industry as a DEFA actor. From 1950 he had a permanent engagement at the Komische Oper , also in East Berlin.
