Josef Czerwenka

Josef Czerwenka (born September 1, 1918 in Ried in der Riedmark , † November 22, 1987 in Linz ) was an Austrian educator and politician .

education and profession

After completing his training at elementary and secondary school as well as the teacher training college in Linz, he passed the Matura and secondary school exams for German and physical exercises in 1938. First he was employed by the Perg tax office and from 1946 a teacher in Schwertberg and Mauthausen . In 1970 he became principal school director in Mauthausen.

Political career

He was from 1966 local council, from 1969 to 1970 and deputy mayor from 1970 to 1984 mayor in Mauthausen and 1973-1979 Federal Council .

He was involved as chairman of the amateur theater in Mauthausen, was an educational advisor at Kinderfreunde Mauthausen and chairman of the ASKÖ Mauthausen. From 1977 he was district chairman of the SPÖ in the Perg district and from 1977 chairman of the SPÖ Mauthausen.

Awards

In 1968 he received the Gold Medal of Honor and in 1978 he was given the honorary ring of the market town of Mauthausen. In 1983 he was made an honorary citizen there. Josef-Czerwenka-Strasse in Mauthausen was named after him.
