Josef Dultinger

Josef Dultinger (born May 31, 1909 in Amstetten ; † 1996 Innsbruck ) was an Austrian railway worker and railway historian.

Life

Josef Dultinger studied at the University of Vienna and graduated in 1936 with a degree in engineering. Then he entered the railroad service as a dispatcher . From 1938 he was deputy board member in the Reichsbahnbetriebsämter Klagenfurt, Leoben and Knittelfeld, in 1940 he became a board member of the Mallnitz construction department and in 1941 an employee of the Aßling (Jesenice) operations office.

After the Second World War , he made a particular contribution to the reconstruction of the destroyed railway systems. In 1952, he became vice president of the Austrian Railways Directorate, Villach and 1956 president of the ÖBB Directorate Innsbruck. The renovation of the Arlbergbahn took place during his service.

In 1963 he was at the University of Graz Dr. techn. PhD . He then became finance director of ÖBB and in 1969 deputy general director. From 1964 to 1977 he was vice-president and president and then sole director of the Brenner Autobahn AG and at the same time a member of the supervisory board of Felbertauernstraßen AG and a member of the executive committee of the European toll road company in Rome.

Dultinger was partly responsible for building the Rosenheim Loop and opening it in 1982. Funded by the ÖBB railway pieces allowed, express trains from Salzburg to Kufstein and vice versa to drive through the corridor Rosenheim, without the train station in Rosenheim having to turn. The construction work resulted in a time saving of around 15 minutes.
