Josef Ferch

Josef Ferch (born January 31, 1840 in Bogarosch , Austrian Empire , † April 4, 1902 in Perjámos , Kingdom of Hungary ) was a Romanian-German teacher , composer , organist , choir director and music teacher .

Life

Ferch attended the Pedagogical Institute in Pest, Hungary, from 1850 to 1858. After the death of his father in 1862, he became a teacher of music, drawing and playing the piano in his hometown and at the same time took over the position of cantor. In 1867 he married a daughter of the Lovrin teacher and composer Josef Eisenkolb , with whom he had nine children. He founded a men's choir, a women's and a children's choir and a fanfare orchestra. He later became an inspector and director of the secondary school in Hatzfeld . Ferch was considered a good piano and organ teacher and a talented improviser. He composed choral and instrumental works. Among other things, the piano piece Memories of Graz appeared in print .
