Josef František Frič
Josef František Frič (born March 6, 1804 in Slaný , † May 21, 1876 in Prague ) was a Bohemian - Czech lawyer, businessman and politician.
Life
The son of a respected bourgeois from Slaný, studied law at Prague University . He then worked as a lawyer and since 1837 as a state advocate. From 1848 he worked at the Charles University. He made a particular contribution to the introduction of the Czech language in the legal system.
In the revolutionary year of 1848 he was a moderate member of the conservative committee of St. Wenceslas (Svatováclavský výbor). He was involved in the drafting of their petitions, drafted a new constitution and a new city ordinance. In June 1848 Frič was elected member of the state parliament . He was supposed to run for the imperial parliament, but was imprisoned and held on Hradčany . After his release he was a member of the Prague municipal committee.
In 1849 he defended Karel Havlíček Borovský in Kuttenberg . From 1851 until his death he was a member of the Prague municipal council and from 1861 to 1869 a member of the city council and the state parliament.
Works
- Together with Karel Jaromír Erben and Antonín Strobach , Frič translated the court rules in 1848. This became the basis of Czech legal terminology.
