Josef Höchst

Josef maximum (* 7. January 1907 in Hagen , † 11. November 1996 in Warendorf ) was a German politician of the CDU . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1965 , where he was mainly involved in the Agriculture Committee. In addition, he was active on numerous other committees, e. B. regarding research and mail.

Life and work

Josef Höchst came from a Hessian family of engineers. Due to his rural relatives, he developed an early interest in agriculture and completed a corresponding training after graduating from high school. He then studied agriculture at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and was awarded a Dr. agr. PhD. In 1935 he married Gertrud Höchst (née Breloh), with whom he had two children. During the Second World War, Höchst worked as a teacher for agriculture in Warendorf. Due to illness and his farming activities, which are important for food production, he did not take part in the war. Shaped by a life in two world wars, Höchst became involved in democratic politics after the end of the war. He joined the CDU in the late 1940s. In addition, he was involved in the establishment and development of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe . For 23 years, from 1953 to 1975 Höchst was District Administrator of the Warendorf district. With his participation, after the district reform in the early 1970s, the Warendorf district was merged with the Beckum district and Warendorf became a district town . Since 1954 he was chairman of the Westphalian beef studbook of the Red Holstein breeders .
