Josef Holl

Josef Holl (born February 11, 1921 in Saarbrücken , † October 27, 1993 ) was a German trade union official and politician of the SPD .

Holl completed a commercial apprenticeship and attended the commercial and business school in Merzig . He then worked as an accountant at RWE in Merzig. From 1934 to 1945 he did military service and took part in the war. He was taken prisoner of war, from which he was released in 1947. The following year he joined VSE AG , where he was HR manager from November 1969. From 1962 he was a member of the supervisory board, and from 1968 to 1976 he was a member of the Saar district board of the ÖTV trade union . In addition, from 1963 to 1974 he was a member of the state executive committee of the workers' welfare organization .

In 1955, Holl joined the SPD. There he officiated for a few years as chairman of the local association Merzig and the sub-district Merzig-Wadern , he also sat on the state board of the party. For nineteen years he was a member of the Merzig City Council, in which he was also the parliamentary group chairman. From 1964 to 1968 he was the first alderman of the district town. In 1960 Holl was elected to the Saarland state parliament for the first time . Two re-elections followed, so that he was a member of parliament until 1975. During this time he served on many committees, including chairing the Board of Management and Immunity. He was also a member of the German-Belgian-Luxembourg Parliament from 1966 to 1970.
