Josef Horník

Josef Horník (born May 12, 1835 in Daschitz ; † August 6, 1909 ) was a Bohemian forester , pomologist, gardener, inventor and specialist author.

Live and act

Horník was born in Daschitz in 1835. He first studied at the Prague Polytechnic and completed his studies at the Royal Mountain and Forest Academy Schemnitz . He then got a job as a forest manager for the now privatized cameraman of Pardubitz . After the so-called forest rulership Daschitz was separated from the agriculturally dominated Pardubitz and Kunburg estates, Horník acted as the lordly forest manager in Pobieschowitz in the service of the industrial Liebieg family .

In 1876, Horník constructed a forest sowing machine that opened up the forest floor and made it possible to plant seeds. Horník was a collaborator and author of the first Bohemian forestry magazine Háj, edited by Jan Theoderich Doležal . In addition, he published numerous forest and agricultural as well as pomological writings, including standard works such as:
