Josef Kalt
Josef Kalt (born September 20, 1920 ; † February 21, 2012 ) was a Swiss rower who won the Olympic silver medal in two without a helmsman in 1948 .
Like his brother Hans, Josef Kalt started for the See-Club Zug and was trained by Karl Schmid . In the 1948 Olympic rowing regatta on the Thames near Henley , three boats competed against each other. Hans and Josef Kalt won both their preliminary run and the semi-finals before the Australian two. In the final, they met the Italians Felice Fanetti and Bruno Boni and the British John Wilson and Ran Laurie . The British won the race by almost three seconds over the Swiss, and the Italians received the bronze medal seven seconds behind.
Hans and Josef Kalt worked in their father's print shop in Zug, today's Kalt-Bucher Druck AG, based in Zug.
