Karl Schmid (born June 29, 1910 - † May 14, 1998 ) was a Swiss rower who won two Olympic medals in 1936.

Karl Schmid from the Zurich Rowing Club won his first international medal at the European Championships in Budapest in 1933, when he and Ernst Rufli won the silver medal in two without a helmsman behind the Hungarian boat. In 1934 the European Championships took place in Lucerne, the Swiss four without a helmsman with Hermann Betschart , Max Schuler , Alex Homberger and Karl Schmid took second place behind the German boat. In 1935 at the European Championships in Berlin, the Swiss four-man won with Hermann Betschart, Hans Homberger , Alex Homberger and Karl Schmid. On August 14, 1936, the finals of the rowing decisions at the 1936 Olympic Games were held on the Berlin-Grünau regatta course .
