Fahrweid is a residential area with its own postcode in the Dietikon district ( Canton of Zurich ).
history
After various floods, the Limmat was channeled from 1880 to 1888 in the Oetwil - Zurich section. As a result, the Dietikon-Fahrweid ferry service, which had existed since 1832, was replaced by the Limmat Bridge in 1897.
In 1912 a flood dam was built. The historic wall of the Glanzenberg desert was used to extract material.
The post office was established in 1975.
Geographical location
The municipal boundary between Weiningen ZH and Geroldswil runs right through the town, with Fahrweid-Weiningen having around 1700 inhabitants and Fahrweid-Geroldswil around 900 inhabitants.

The primary school in the Fahrweid schoolhouse, built in 1964, is run by the primary school community of Oetwil-Geroldswil , in whose district it is also located. However, the registration takes place in the school community in which the place of residence is.
