Josef Karst
Josef Karst (also Joseph Karst ; born April 1, 1871 in Bettringen near Holving , Lorraine , † 1962 ) was a German orientalist who was particularly concerned with the Armenian language .
Josef Karst received his doctorate in January 1899 at the University of Strasbourg with a dissertation on pronunciation and vocalism of Cilician-Armenian . He was Professor of Oriental Philology, General Comparative Linguistics and Classical Studies at the University of Strasbourg.
He published the translation of the Chronicle of Eusebius of Caesarea , which was handed down in an Armenian version, and made it accessible to science.
