Josef Katzer , also József Katzer, was a master furrier and purveyor to the court .

His company was founded in 1876. The company was based at Altgasse 44 in the 6th district of Terézváros in Budapest .

Katzer became very successful in his field. His products included gala coats for the Hungarian aristocracy , and the royal court was also one of his customers. For his services he was appointed royal Hungarian purveyor or imperial court purveyor. He was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit and was appointed to the Council of Commerce , Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

At the Paris World Exhibition he was a member of the group commission of the XIII. and XIV. Section as well as executive member of the XIII. Section. He received the Silver Medal of the Paris World's Fair in the clothing section.

Katzer presented a curiosity at the Budapest Millennium Exhibition in 1896 . The object on display was an “Alfölder farmhouse” whose outer and inner clothing was made of fine fur. This original work received praise from experts in its time.
