Josef Kleinhaipl (born January 8, 1816 in Niederneukirchen ; † January 22, 1905 St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician and the eleventh mayor of St. Pölten.

Life

Josef Kleinhaipl was born on January 8, 1816 in Niederneukirchen, Upper Austria, the son of a surgeon . He wanted to take up his father's profession, which is why he went to Vienna in 1831 to study medicine. After he left the university in 1835 without a degree, he married in 1839 into the family of the cloth and iron merchant Josef Heim in St. Pölten. Kleinhaipl was a member of the municipal council as early as 1861, and from 1879 he was the first councilor , which corresponded to the deputy mayor. In 1882 he was elected mayor, in 1888, surprisingly, he was not re-elected. He died on January 22nd, 1905 in St. Pölten.
