Josef Mangold
Josef (also: Joseph ) Hubert Martin Mangold (born November 11, 1884 in Cologne ; † March 28, 1937 there ) was a German painter of the New Objectivity , in his variant of Magical Realism .
Life
Mangold studied at the arts and crafts schools in Cologne and Berlin and was a member of the " Rhenish Secession ", which emerged in 1928 from the association of Das Junge Rheinland and other modern artist groups. In 1938 the artists' association was dissolved by the National Socialists.
Mangold died in 1937 at the age of 52 in a Cologne hospital. He last lived in Cologne-Arnoldshöhe (now: Cologne-Raderthal ) and was married to Ella geb. Walnut.

- Chestnut bud branch (recorded in 1934 as an entry in the holdings of the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne ; No. 2385)
- Self-portrait (1929/30) (documented in the holdings of the Wallraf-Richartz Museum. It is depicted on a so-called "Museum Quartet", which the association "Friends of the Wallraf-Richartz Museum" published in 1985 on the museum's holdings)
