Josef Maria Plöchl

Josef Maria Plöchl (born January 12, 1900 in Vienna , † October 7, 1944 in Blankenese ) was an Austrian chemist and engineer .

Josef Maria Plöchl grew up as the son of the government councilor and head of the teacher training institute Josef Plöchl (1861-1925).

He was later (after 1938) visiting professor at the University of Königsberg and involved in the German rocket program in Allenstein .

In 1944 he was executed in Blankenese as a resistance fighter against National Socialism following the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944 .

The lawyer Willibald Maria Plöchl (1907–1984) was his brother. His nephew Gerhardt Plöchl is the author of the book “Willibald Plöchl and Otto Habsburg in the USA. - Wrestling for Austria's 'government in exile' 1941/42 ”.
