Josef Mazura (born April 23, 1956 in Vyškov , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech soccer player and current soccer coach . At the 1980 Olympic Games , he won the gold medal with the Czechoslovak team.
Player career
Jozef Mazura played for Sokol Lysovice in his youth . In 1973 the full-back moved to FC Zbrojovka Brno , where he made his debut in the 1st Czechoslovakian league in the 1977/78 season at the age of 21 and was able to celebrate the championship title.
Mazura was in the squad of the Czechoslovak team that won the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in the Soviet Union .
On August 18, 1981 Mazura played his first and only international match outside the Olympic team. The Czechoslovakia played in Prague against UEFA selection . Although it is not an international match in the literal sense, it is officially recognized as such by the Czech Football Association .
At the age of 30 Mazura moved to VSE St. Pölten in the Austrian Regionalliga Ost , with which he was promoted to the 2nd division. He spent the season 1987/88 at the Belgian second division club KSC Hasselt . From 1988 to 1998 the Czech played for the Austrian club SV Stockerau , with whom he sensationally won the national cup competition, the ÖFB Cup , in 1991 .

Coaching career
Mazura's first coaching station was in the 1998/99 season TJ Rousínov in the 5th Czech League. From 1999 to 2002 he worked as an assistant trainer at FK Drnovice . In April 2002 he took over the post of head coach after the resignation of Karel Jarůšek , but could no longer prevent relegation. Drnovice was denied the second division license, the club started only in the MSFL, the third division. Mazura led the club back to the first division within two years, the team finished eighth, but voluntarily renounced a first division license.
In October 2005 Mazura took over the team of 1. FC Brno . In the 2007/2008 season, the Czech coached the Slovak club Spartak Trnava , in early May 2008 he was dismissed.
From July to September 2008 Mazura coached FC Tescoma Zlín . In mid-December 2008 he became the coach of 1. FC Slovácko .
