Karel Jarůšek (born December 2, 1952 in Blansko ) is a former Czech football player , football coach and current football official . The 15-time Czechoslovak national player is chairman of the board of 1. FC Brno .

Player career

Jarůšek started playing football at ČKD Blansko, and at the age of 14 he joined Zbrojovka Brno . He moved to Dukla Tábor in 1971 to do his two years of military service there, after which he returned to Brno .

The talented midfielder soon pushed František Mikloš off the starting line-up. Jarůšek, who felt most comfortable in the central midfield, was universally applicable. He was considered a technically strong preparer with good defensive work.

In the Czechoslovak national team he made his debut on November 9, 1977 in the home game against Hungary , which ended 1-1. Almost exactly a year later he scored his only goal in a total of 15 international matches. In the 3-0 win over Italy on November 8, 1978 , he overcame Dino Zoff in the first minute of the game. Jarůšek had his last appearance in the dress of the ČSSR on May 18, 1980 in the Za Lužánkami stadium in Brno . The Czechoslovaks defeated Romania 2-1.

With Zbrojovka Brno Jarůšek was Czechoslovakian champions in 1977/78, in total he played 237 first division games for the club, in which he scored 51 goals. In 1985 he went to Greece to Panserraikos , in 1987 he moved to the Austrian club SV Sparkasse Stockerau , from 1990 to 1993 he played for 1. Wiener Neustädter SC .

He let his career come to an end from 1993 to 1995 as a player-coach at SV Eibenstein.

Coaching career

Jarůšek's coaching career began in the mid-1990s at SK Tuřany. From the 1996/97 season he was assistant coach at FC Boby Brno , in August 1998 he took over the post of head coach from Karel Večeřa . He led the team to seventh place, the following year to fourth place. After only one point from the first five games of the 2000/01 season Jarůšek was replaced by Pavel Tobíaš .

For the 2001/02 season Jarůšek was coach at FK Drnovice . In the second half of the season, the club ran into great financial difficulties and sold in April, six games before the end of the season, nine players to league rivals Marila Příbram . Thereupon Jarůšek resigned from his office. In the 2002/03 season he led the first division relegated SFC Opava back to the Gambrinus League .

At the beginning of 2003 Jarůšek took over 1. FC Brno for the second time in his career , this time together with Stanislav Schwarz . After a year, the coaching duo had to vacate his place for Jiří Kotrba .

politics

From November 2003 to November 2004 Jarůšek was a member of the Senate of the Czech Republic , the upper chamber of Parliament. He was elected in the constituency of Brno for Občanská Demokratická strana by just 21 votes.
