Josef Olah
Josef Olah (born April 10, 1909 in Budapest as József Oláh; † after 1974, Rellingen, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany) was a Hungarian-German opera singer ( baritone ) and voice actor .
Life
The “Staatsoper baritone” Olah (before the Second World War he performed under the name “Josef Olaf”) was a member of the Hamburg State Opera from 1942 to 1953 . Engagements in Aussig, Gera and Düsseldorf followed. He sang and played the title role in Rigoletto , Scarpia in Giacomo Puccini's Tosca , Count Luna in Giuseppe Verdi's Il trovatore , Tonio in the Bajazzo by Ruggero Leoncavallo , Marcello in Leoncavallo's La Bohème and George Germont in Verdi's La traviata .
In addition, Olah worked as a voice actor and lent his voice to the New Zealand actor Inia te Wiata in the films Me and the Minister and Demons of the South Seas .
His brothers, Ferenc and Istvan, were members of the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest.
