Josef Peter (athlete)

Josef Peter (born December 23, 1949 ) is a former Swiss marathon runner and holds a doctorate in chemistry.

Athletic career

In 1980 he became Swiss marathon champion in Gumels with a time of 2:18:55 hours. In the same year he finished second at the German Marathon Championships as a guest runner with his personal best of 2:16:41 h.

At the Olympic Games in Moscow he came in 40th place, and at the Košice Marathon he was twelfth. In 1982, another Swiss championship title was followed by sixth place at the Frankfurt Marathon .

In 1986 and 1988 he won the Black Forest Marathon .
