Josef Sanktjohanser

Josef Sanktjohanser (born September 28, 1950 in Wissen an der Sieg , Westerwald) is a German manager , former board member of the Rewe Group and president of the Main Association of German Retailers (HDE).

biography

After studying business administration with a degree in business administration, Sanktjohanser was a managing partner in his parents' medium-sized food retail chain in Siegerland ("Petz", now part of the Rewe Group, the family still holds 50%).

In 1986 he was appointed managing director of Rewe-Handelsgesellschaft Koblenz. From 1991 he took over the management of "REWE West" and was also active in various positions as branch manager and managing director in REWE companies. With effect from March 1, 2004 he became a board member of “REWE-Zentral AG” and “REWE-Zentralfinanz eG” (“Rewe Group”), Cologne. There he was responsible for the business areas specialist stores ( toom DIY stores and ProMarkt ), cooperations and investments (delicatessen cooperation with Karstadt ), cash & carry , food service and the public affairs department . He had to relinquish the responsibilities for the domestic large supermarkets ( toom hypermarkets ) and the wholesale trade as part of the personnel changes on the board of directors in recent years. Sanktjohanser retired from the board in mid-2012.

Sanktjohanser has been a member of the HDE board since 2005. From October 2005 to October 2006 he was Vice President. Designated since spring 2006, Sanktjohanser was elected as the incumbent HDE President with effect from December 1, 2006. He is the successor to Hermann Franzen , who was no longer available for re-election.

Sanktjohanser is also a member of the plenary assembly of the Cologne Chamber of Commerce . Since September 6, 2007, he has also been a member of the administrative board of 1. FC Köln , from which he was temporarily elected deputy chairman on November 13, 2011 after the board's sudden resignation. He has been on the board of trustees of the Heinz Lohmann Foundation since 2013 .
