Heinz Lohmann Foundation
The Heinz Lohmann Foundation is a non-profit foundation in the legal form of a GmbH based in Rechterfeld . It was founded on August 4th, 1997 by Paul-Heinz and Erich Wesjohann. The name should remind of Heinz Lohmann . The foundation is supported by Lohmann & Co. Aktiengesellschaft , in which the entrepreneurial activities of the Wesjohann brothers were bundled and in which they held the majority of the shares until the split into two companies.
According to its own statement, the purpose of the foundation is to promote science and research in studies of current and future nutritional behavior of consumers. Areas of work are the quality of the food and the optimization of production. In particular, she wants to promote communication with consumers so that they can get a transparent picture of today's agriculture and existing uncertainties are objectified.
Heidi Klein, member of the board at Lobbycontrol , classified the non-profit organization in 2011 as a lobby organization for the TAZ . The green agricultural politician Friedrich Ostendorff said that the foundation should help to increase the acceptance of factory farming , as it is common in the PHW group. Animal rights activists repeatedly accused the fatteners of the group of animal cruelty.
Funding activities
The foundation organizes colloquia and parliamentary evenings for journalists and members of parliament. The foundation finances research contracts on various topics relating to nutrition and funds campaigns for nutrition education in kindergartens and schools.
It awards grants and uses them to finance Bachelor, Master and PhD theses.
