Beatrix Tappeser (born March 31, 1954 in Essen ) is a German biologist and politician .

In 1982 she did her doctorate at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn on the subjects of comparative studies of RNA polymerases from resting and stimulated human lymphocytes and characterization of RNA polymerases from lymphocytes . From 1985 to 1987 she was a research assistant in the Bundestag parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . She was a member of the municipal council in Freiburg from 1999 to 2004.

Beatrix Tappeser has accompanied the Freiburg Eco-Institute since 1985, initially as an honorary member of the board and its deputy chairwoman. Since April 1987 she has been coordinator of the research area "Biodiversity, Food & Agriculture" for 17 years. The main focus was on the risk assessment of the use of genetic engineering and the development of sustainable forms of land use. Among other things, she took part in the international negotiations on the Biosafety Protocol from 1995 to 2000. In February 2004 she moved to the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation in Bonn as head of department. Beatrix Tappeser has been a member of the GLS Bank Supervisory Board since 2001 .

On January 18, 2014, Tappeser was appointed State Secretary of Environment Minister Priska Hinz in the Hessian State Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection in the Bouffier II cabinet at the suggestion of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen Hessen . In the Cabinet Bouffier III she kept this post until her retirement in November of 2019.
