Josef Schepper (born March 15, 1927 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Schepper was a goalkeeper at Kickers Offenbach , for whom he played in the Oberliga Süd point games from 1945 to 1952 . After the first three seasons were completed with twelfth, fifth and ninth place, he won the championship with his team in 1948/49 and consequently also took part in the final round of the German championship . He made his debut on June 12, 1949 in Kaiserslautern in the quarter-finals meeting with Wormatia Worms , which was followed by extra timeended with 2-2 and had no winner. He and his team won the replay that was played a week later in Karlsruhe 2-0 and reached the semi-finals. The encounter on June 26, 1949 in Gelsenkirchen was lost against the eventual German champions VfR Mannheim with 1: 2, as was the game for 3rd place on July 9 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, but only after extra time.

In the final round of the German Championship 1949/50 he took third place in the season, which was possible at the time, and played all five final rounds including the replay of the semifinals against Prussia Dellbrück and the final. This took place on June 25th in the Berlin Olympic Stadium and was lost 1: 2 to VfB Stuttgart ; the only goal of his team was achieved by Horst Buhtz with the connection goal in the 47th minute.

For the 1952/53 season switched to league competitor Viktoria Aschaffenburg , he played for this until the end of the 1953/54 season ; as the bottom of the table, the club had to relegate to the 2nd Oberliga Süd , from which he returned to the Oberliga Süd in second place .
