G20 summit in Saint Petersburg 2013

The G20 summit in St. Petersburg on September 5 and 6, 2013 was a meeting of the group of the twenty most important industrialized and emerging countries . In addition to leading politicians from these countries, politicians from other countries and representatives of international economic and trade organizations took part.

Content and course of the conference

Topics in Saint Petersburg were:

  1. Framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth;
  2. Growth through quality jobs;
  3. Reform of international monetary and financial systems;
  4. Reform of financial regulation and supervision;
  5. Sustainable development of global energy markets;
  6. Promoting development for all;
  7. Strengthening multilateral trade;
  8. Stepping up the fight against corruption.

The Syria conflict was not officially on the agenda, but it dominated the summit.

A statement was made at the end of this summit.

A follow-up meeting on a smaller scale took place on October 24, 2013 in Moscow. Delegates then discussed the progress made in the main areas of work, analyzed the results of the Russian Presidency, explored possible ways to further improve the effectiveness of the G20, and began to discuss the agenda and priorities of the upcoming Australian Presidency.
