Josef Schirpenbach (born April 7, 1906 in Witten-Ruhr , † April 8, 1970 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1946 to 1950 and from 1958 to 1962.

Life

Schirpenbach attended secondary school after elementary school and acquired the right to study through a gifted test. From 1929 to 1933 he studied at the Business and Administration Academy in Bochum and passed the diploma examination in the subject of social sciences. He then studied at the business school in Berlin and at the University of Poznan. Until 1951 he worked for the mining trade association in Bochum. From January 1953 he was director of the State Insurance Institution of Westphalia in Münster .

Schirpenbach was chairman of the Windthorstbund Bochum from 1929 to 1933 and city councilor for the German Center Party in Bochum from 1931 to 1933 . From 1946 he was a member of the CDU , whose district chairman in Bochum he was from 1946 to 1952. From 1948 to 1952 he was also district chairman of the CDU and from 1951 regional treasurer of the CDU Westphalia. He was also a member of the Federal Committee for Social Policy of the CDU. From 1946 to 1952 he was mayor of the city of Bochum and from October 1951 district administrator. Schirpenbach was appointed member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in the second term of office and was directly elected in the first regular election in the constituency 102 Bochum-Nordwest. He was a member of the state parliament from December 19, 1946 to June 17, 1950. In the fourth electoral term, he moved up to the state parliament on December 19, 1958 and was a member again until July 20, 1962.
