Josef Schmitt (lawyer)

Josef Schmitt (born August 22, 1875 in Bamberg ; † 1945 ibid) was a German lawyer.

Life

After Josef Schmitt attended high school in Minnerstadt and did his military service as a one-year volunteer, he studied law at the University of Würzburg . In 1896 he became a member of the Corps Bavaria . After practicing at the Bamberg District Court from 1898 to 1901 and in 1900 at the University of Erlangen as a Dr. jur. After receiving his doctorate, he filed for bankruptcy in 1901 and joined his father's law firm in 1902, which he took over in 1908. In 1902 he was admitted to the bar at the Bamberg Regional Court and in 1903 at the Higher Regional Court. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as an adjutant for the inspection of the replacement departments of the field artillery of the II. Bavarian Artillery Corps in Würzburg. He became chairman of the board of the Bamberg Bar Association.

Josef Schmitt was chairman of the supervisory board of Mechanische Seilerwarenfabrik AG in Bamberg and Kaliko-Fabrik AG in Bamberg. He was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Vereinigte Kugellager-Fabriken AG , J. Mich AG in Bamberg, AG Steinfels, formerly Hch. Knab in Steinfels, the H. Henniger Reifbräu AG in Erlangen and the cotton industry Erlangen-Bamberg AG in Erlangen. He was also a member of the supervisory boards of the AG for light and power supply in Munich, the porcelain factory Kloster Veilsdorf AG , the porcelain factory CM Hutschenreuther AG in Altrohlau and the Rizzibräu AG in Kulmbach. He was a member of the Bavarian State Committee of the Deutsche Bank and Disconto-Gesellschaft and the Allianz and Stuttgarter Verein Versicherungs-AG .
