Marx Schokotnigg
Marx Schokotnigg (baptized April 25, 1661 in Oberburg, today Gornji Grad , Slovenia, † September 24, 1731 near Graz ) was an Austrian baroque sculptor .
Life
Schokotnigg lived in Italy for nine years to study. In 1697 he tried in vain to be accepted into the Graz Confraternity. He received larger commissions from Fischer von Erlach , who among other things commissioned him to work on the Kaiser Ferdinand Mausoleum in Graz.
Schokotnigg had two sons, Marcus Anton (1700–1755) and Joseph (1700–1755). The second was also a sculptor and chairman of the Styrian painters and sculptors confraternity.

Schokotnigg left a plethora of works including:
- Statues on the balustrade of Admont Abbey
- Figures and altars in the Birkfeld parish church
- Marian column in Murau
- Sculptures in the Graz Cathedral
- Pulpit of the Graz Andräkirche
- Pulpit of the parish church St. Peter (Graz) (presumably)
- Altar sculptures in the Graz Franciscan Church , the Graz Leonhard Church and the old Graz Ursuline Church
