José Andrés Corral Arredondo

José Andrés Corral Arredondo (born November 30, 1946 in Coloradas , Mexico , † December 24, 2011 in Parral ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Parral .

Life

José Andrés Corral Arredondo studied at the Durango Seminary and the Pontifical Seminary of Montezuma, New Mexico (USA), where he obtained a bachelor's degree in theology. He was ordained a priest on November 22, 1970 . He was initially vicar and taught as a professor of philosophy and theology at the seminary of Durango. From 1973 to 1976 he studied at the Pontificio Colegio Mexicano in Rome and obtained a license in Biblical theology at the Pontifical Biblical Institute . From 1976 to 1982/89 he was professor of scripture in the seminary of Durango. From 1976 to 1981 he was also a diocesan advisor to the Christian Family Movement . He was the coordinator for the priests (1976-1982) and vice-president of the Pontificio Mexican College Pontificio Colegio Mexicano in Rome (1982-1985). He was involved in the Episcopal Commission for Pastoral Care of the Mexican Bishops' Conference (1983–1985 and 1986–1988). In 1989 he became episcopal vicar for religious.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Cincari and auxiliary bishop in Durango on January 16, 1989 . He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Durango , Antonio López Aviña , on February 22nd of the same year; Co- consecrators were Adolfo Antonio Suárez Rivera , Archbishop of Monterrey , and Norberto Rivera Carrera , Bishop of Tehuacán .

On July 11, 1992, John Paul II appointed him the first bishop of the newly established Parral diocese . In the CEM was involved in various commissions. From 2004 to 2006 he was the representative of the northern region of Mexico in the CEM.
